This is the smallest show we do (only about 30 sports tables, 65 total), but it's a short drive and we tend to be a draw due to less competition. It's just a one day format, which is actually refreshing as it doesn't monopolize the weekend and the intensity can be narrowed to a limited time period. The combination of the drive and format is a nice alternative on a personal level. It also means that I can handle this on my own and let the boys have their Saturday.
There aren't that many vendors that have the same purchasing power we do in a show this small, thus we have a nice advantage over what are typically newer vendors. The show has a good vibe and growth potential, and it's wise for us to be known in our immediate area for business.
The booth was packed until mid afternoon. Having a booth next to another vendor I know well is huge, as it allows breaks, walking the show, etc. I picked up numerous Jordan Chrome Refractors and Kobe insert cards as we head to The West Coast Card Show. I even bought some Yankee cards from a former Yankee minor leaguer whose catcher was Ben Rice.
