Grayson has some key tests early next week, so I worked this one alone. Not optimal, as we had an additional eight foot table, which allowed a little more space for buying and for the value boxes, which we haven't used much the last few months.
I also brought the digital microscope, as a couple of people had reached out to sell some high end raw cards. Of course, neither showed up — but the microscope generated a lot of interest.
Value boxes. Ours started as cards that didn't quite make the cut for the case. Looking back over the past year, I am sure we let some go that, if graded highly, would have made the buyer very happy. Now they're used for opened wax that is better than base but not enough for the case. The reality is those cards still need comping, sleeves and a toploader, and frankly it's not normally the best use of time. At this point I only use them as a way to take up table space at Houston shows — we won't even take them to Austin.
Today's show was easily the most productive of the three Wood shows we have exhibited at. It was also the first show where I did some paid test marketing pre-show to drive traffic to our site for soliciting buying opportunities. Was able to line up a nice collection and estate opportunity pre-show, and some of the collection made its way to the show.
There was some movement with higher end cards that was honestly a little surprising. A LeBron BGS 9.5 Chrome rookie was dealt in a nice trade, and I also moved a stubborn Topps Pristine Refractor in a harder-to-comp BGS 9.
The highlight deal of the day was moving the Brady Kaboom PSA 10. Could I have held it longer for more? Yes. I have been on a roll now, the last three shows, of moving a major piece for cash, and that allows flexibility heading into Q4 and ultimately 2027.
